Here's a story from today's paper I thought someone might find interesting and put some perspective on our recent blogging discussions in class.

I liked this article although I am not a huge fan of bloggers. I think that everyone should feel free to express their opinions but when you criticize authorities you better make sure you can back it up. I think this lets bloggers know that if you are going to "act" like a journalist then you better be ready to either back it up or pay the price.
When you broadcast your opinions and beliefs for others to see then you open the door for criticism and in this case punishment.
I don't think he was acting like a journalist though. He was posting his opinions about a topic, that is not journalism, it is expression. Because he is not a journalist he should definitely be able to say whatever he wants (if he was in the US). Journalists have restrictions because it is an influential business. Bloggers should be able to state their opinion, just as protesters march with signs and yell their views. I know I am by myself on this, but a way for expression should be the role of blogs.
