10 Reasons

For all the naysayers, here are 10 convincing arguments that journalism will flourish despite online and all of its glory and its bloggers.

Thanks for the dedication, lol. Half of his advantages were about online journalism in general. I don't have a problem with online journalism, I think its a wonderful thing. Another point he briefly mentioned was the dwindling job opportunities for professional journalists. How can you as a journalist not be concerned by this point? Let's look at a drastic hypothetical situation. What if the world of journalism comes to bloggers and citizens? What would the worth of our degree mean? We would ultimately have to find a job outside of our interest. Though a lot of people do that, there are still others with a passion for investigating, writing the unbiased story, and editing. These people would have a settle for blogs. Even in reality, where it is so hard to break into the journalism field as it is, now people with only opinions and no skill are allow the privilege to be called journalists. What happened to the pride of the profession, and the arrogance of knowing more than the average person? That's my favorite part of journalism! Im ranting again so I'll end on this: Who wants their work fact checked by a regular person who thinks they know everything? And where do these random people get their information about current event topics? Traditional news sources. We are the ultimate decision-makers of what is important. Though there are more citizens than journalists, we decide what is important to society, and if citizens think we are missing something, they should leave a note in our comment box. Not start their own Web site littered with opinion and second-hand research. My last note: I'm trying to write my paper (of course it is about how bloggers should never consider themselves journalists) and everyone keeps talking about this great debate about traditional v. citizen journalism, but I'm having a hard time finding any information to back up my points. So I came on this site looking for help, apparently I am by myself. If you guys could find any articles SUPPORTING me, and dedicate that to me that would be great, lol! See you all Monday!!

Gosh, another thing I just realized... I'm blogging right now! And what is worse, I'm blogging about how much I hate blogging!! Kind of hypocritical...
